Quay Theatre in Sudbury

Quay Theatre, Sudbury

The Quay Theatre is a charity run organisation officially opened in 1981 but the building itself has been standing since 1791 as 'The Great Granary' warehouse for the River Stour Navigation Company. The theatre has seating for 125 (most live shows) and 90 (screenings) and provides a mix of amateur and professional performances ranging from tribute bands, drama (by our local amateur dramatics group the Sudbury Dramatic Society), comedians and films to screenings from the National Theatre (NT Live) including opera, ballet and much more. It is also a venue supporting many local clubs and societies such as chess, books, music and film alongside our courses for young performers, Quay Comets (6-10 years) and Quay Novas (11-15 years). We also host a pop up restaurant Shillingfords, who open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night from 6pm. The building and its various spaces are available for private or professional hire, please look at the website for further details.
